On December 28th, the Premiership matches in London were all sold out, so we
decided to check out the reknowned excitement of the Coca-Cola Championship. We
headed out to Loftus Road to watch Queen's Park Rangers host Cardiff.
We were there early enough to buy a hot chocolate and watch the sides warm up while
the club DJ treated us to some cutting-edge indie music over the PA. And it was a
great bonus to be greeted by Jude the Cat, who has his own special song that sounds
something like the Itchy and Scratchy theme.

Jude the Cat worked his magic on the crown and the players, pumping everyone up for
the big match. Before this game, QPR were 10 in the Championship table, while
Cardiff were 14th. Yay! A big, thrilling, middle-of-the-table match-up.
I snapped a photo of the captains and match officials at exactly the same moment as
the official photographer snapped his. And I even got a shot of QPR's pre-kick-off
team huddle.

QPR were all attack in the first half... but geez, what is up with their midfield? Quel horreur!

It was so cold. By half time, we needed more hot chocolate, and our feet were blocks of ice. At least the players were moving around, otherwise they'd have turned to cartoon snowmen. The score at half time was still 0-0.

QPR scored in the 2nd half, and Cardiff never looked threatening. They never looked like they showed up, in fact, which is good considering QPR's midfield didn't show up either. The match ended 1-0, and it's too bad the photos can't capture the fabulous atmosphere at Loftus Road. The fans of both sides were singing noisily throughout the match. In fact, about 5,000 of the 13,000 attendees were away fans.
All in all, I'd say the Championship lives up to its reputation as big big fun!
